Sterling Castle

We made an impromptu visit on way from Edinburgh to Glasgow to Sterling castle. It is in Sterling. It is the gateway to highlands. Queen Mary of Scott's is said to have been raised there. Here is a cool gate to the cemetery.


Here is the moat. This castle feels like a medieval town. It is so far my favorite stop.


Why no pictures from inside? This man wouldn't let us through the portcullis. Either we didn't know the password or we showed up at 5:17 and last admittance is at 5:15.


It was still really cool and a must see.





Beautiful valley heading into highlands.
