Road trip 2018. Houston to Boise.

This summer we decided it would be fun to do a road trip. Bridget had arranged for us to go to ASPEN GROVE and after doing the math we figured it would be cheaper to drive, so Bridget flew, i Drove with the big three, we had so much fun. We told stories, stopped at fun places and ate junk food. Eli sat in front with me. Here he is making a rubber band ball. At one point I took the ball from him and rolled down the window and dropped it between my seat and the window. He freaked out thinking I threw it out the window. It was one of my funnier pranks.

We left at 5 am and got to Fort Worth by 10 or 1030, After leaving Ft Worth we started seeing advertisements for this big Texan restaurant where they will give you a 72 oz steak if you eat it in one sitting. So we decided to go, It was 300 mile of billboards. But we were excited,

Oh were we excited for our food to come, we got to keep the cups. Dora and I ordered steak, Eli got the hamburger, Emmy got chicken strips

The rolls were super tasty and the meals came in hats

Dora said the steak tasted like it was leather and not very good, she was not wrong, I ate mine and hers

Emmy started eating the chicken strips and chewed and chewed but could never swallow it because it was so chewy. After about 30 min i told her to spit it out and get another bite, she did. And when we got in the car a half hour later she was still chewing... Im gonna say, not worth going to.

But while we were there a guy from CHINA. Showed up to eat the steak. He sat down, took a bunch of pictures of it, ate 10 bites then got down. I remember growing up and having my parents tell us to eat the vegitables because there are starving kids in china. This Guy DIDNT EVEN TOUCH HIS VEGITABLES.

We drove from Amarillo north west to New Mexico and into colorado, it was really pretty and very abandoned, it was interesting how much more fertile the volcano areas were.

We made it to Denver and got gas and all the kids melted down so we got a hotel. The next morning we got up and ate at McDonalds, then drove to The dinosaur Quarry in Utah/Colorado, I did not take too many pictures driving because, well, I was driving.

The working theory is that 156 million years ago there was a river in this part of Utah, dinosaurs came to drink, then there was a drought. Dinosaurs came and died, Then the next year it rained and washed all these dinosaurs into the same area and covered them with silt, then they became petrified then as the plates shifted the layers of earth vertically the bones got exposed,

Here we are on our way to the exhibit

There are over 15,000 dinosaur bones exposed here.

This is the tibia of a big dinosaur, over 300 feet long, and weighs over 16 tons, (longer than 3 school busses and as much as 16 cars)

Allosauras complete skeleton, this is the dino of UTAH

Kids getting educated

of all the bones there, only one showed signs that it was chewed on by another dinosaur

we had a really fun time here and learned alot

we then got in the car and drove to boise
