Texas

Some of the best things that have happened to me have happened in Texas. In no particular order:

I got accepted to medical school
I had my first real job
I learned to body board
I had the worst sunburn of my life while trying to body board
I bought my first pickup
I Sold my first pickup
I learned what Gig'em is supposed to mean
I had my car broken into twice
I learned how to replace windows
I learned about brisket tacos
I Graduated from Medical School.
I learned how to BBQ
I shot my first Pig
I met my wife
I found out I was going to be a Dad in Texas
I found out I was going to be a Dad for the third time in Texas

So, for those of you who don't know. We are moving back to Texas this summer. We are all very excited. We will be living in Richmond TX. Just outside of Houston.
Aunt Rachel, we promise to visit (even though OK and TX are enemies).
Jackie, Our new house has a pool, bring the kids.
Any family is invited. We can have Brisket Tacos, then maybe you will want to join us!

rain poem

The pitter patter of the rain,
Plays tricks on my sleeping brain.
If also plays tricks on Eli's head.
I think that's why he wet the bed.

Eli things

So last night I put Eli to bed. It went something like this.

Me: Eli, what does Heavenly Father want us to do?
Eli: To always be nice to our sister and to protect her.
Me: Good, What does Heavenly Father want Sister to do?
Eli: To be nice to me, and to share with me.
Me: Eli, what does Heavenly Father want for Daddy to do?
Eli: To go to work at the hospital, to work hard and make people feel better. To make money so you can buy me lots of really really nice things. That is what he wants.

Nice to know how I fit in to the Plan.

Traveling with Kids

I have decided that Airports are the best places to be with kids. Here are my reasons.
1. No one wants to be anywhere near them. Walk through the airport with kids and it is like having the positive charges on magnets pushed together. They can truly bother no one.
2. The longest you will be annoying any individual person is less than 45 minutes before their connecting flight.
3. The natural noise level of an airport makes the screams muted.
4. Any kid friendly person (not traveling with kids) is either willing to help, or take empathy on you.
5. Anyone without kids stays as far away as possible.
6 The place is already littered with so much trash that our mess was hardly noticeable.
7. LONG HALLWAYS Good line of site to just let them run.
8. People in airports are traveling and have no way to put any kid they might kidnap, plus with all the security, finding them again would be pretty simple.
9. Even the men in airports have purses so a guy like me that has a bag with diapers, wipes, cookies, and water seems to fit in.
10. big bathrooms.
11. lots of drinking fountains.
12. most airports have some kind of artwork that kids can climb on. (Whether they should or not is a different story).

Forget daycare, just print of some boarding passes for your kids, drop them off at the airport and come back in a couple hours. I am sure they would do just fine.
