We booked some excursions from the hotel. We figured we would pay a bit more for the talking and ability to ask questions as well as explain interesting things along the way. Here we are at colosseum. Interestingly it was destroyed not by wind fire or earthquake, the churches were all built off scavaged marble and stone. It could still be in use!
It functioned till 590.
It was used as a place of worship for a short period. See the cross... Bam. Church!
This mosaic dates to second century. It was moved to coliseum because it shows gladiators.
Behind the seats where the common citizens sat, they found graffiti. That's kinda cool. This would have been a bleacher.
The wooden floor covered the whole arena. There were trap doors all over to put animals up. They could also flood it for ship battles.
The forum. There were temples a d markets all over here.
This celebrated the conquering of the Jews, the destruction of Jerusalem in 74 ad.
Constantine's church.
This red marble is from Egypt and no longer exists. They don't let you take pictures of the Sistine Chapel. Here are some other interesting things. This pinecone comes from Egypt as well as the lions.
Pope bought this. It dates back to time of Christ.
At St Peters basilica, this door opens every 25 years. If you walk through it, your sins are forgiven. But only on the jubilee.

This was built at time of church separating from England. The statue on right is holding fear with her toe on England.
